I like my Franchi which is owned by beretta. It's light handles great and shoots a pattern that knocks them dead and was about half the price of it's cousin the benelli.

I know there are alot of nice shotguns out there, some nice high $$ one too. But to tell you the truth, I like my Mossberg 835. Not many guns shoot a better pattern that the ol' mossy! ;D

Other than that they are great turkey guns

However, there is NO KICK when a turkey is in my sights.....you know what I mean! ;D

You would think though a gun that weighs as much would not kick half as much though. My buddy asked me to carry his 835 one day after he killed his bird and I had to say her you carried it in here you need to carry to the truck. To damn heavy.

I guess it's all relative.....the weight never really bothered me. After carrying around a 20+ lb M-60 for 5 years, its light as a feather to me.....and devastating on the turks.....

I know a buddy who will sell his which has killed dozens of birds real cheap probably. He use to think that it was the greatest thing till he got a 1187. Mine is deadly on turkeys to 65 yards but weighs 6 and half pounds which I like. I guess if you hunted the swamps of down south here you might have a different take. I am glad that you like it but weighing 10 pounds to me is not fun to carry anywhere when you chasing birds for a day.

Not sure what your buddy has on his 835, mine has no scope or anything, but on a Berkely digital scale mine weighs in at 7.5 lbs. Yeah swamps can be tough, spent PLENTY of time in the jungles and swamps of the south, Phillipines, etc. Its all mountains here where I hunt. Ask Chuck we are mostly hunting climbing hills. You HAVE to be in shape, and part mountain goat. Most flatlanders have a hard time keeping up. I don't use auto shotguns, never will again, I just didn't have the best of luck with them, including a Browning auto that I had years ago. It just jammed too much. It is either the 835 or my Nova for me. But, It really doesn't matter to me what others choose to use to hunt. Like I always say, to each his own! Good luck this fall......
